Dear shell account holders at warhead.org.uk, Here is a summary of the services currently available to you. For a start, you should all join the love user's mailing list: http://lists.warhead.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/lovers --- LOVE --- 1) Protocols ftp/ssh/telnet - for access to your accounts, with your assigned username and password pop3/imap- to access your @warhead.org.uk email address, if you haven't put a .forward in place to send it all to your normal email account. Use "pop.warhead.org.uk" or "imap.warhead.org.uk" as the server name. 2) software irc - just type "irc" to connect to irc.warhead.org.uk. Type /list to get a list of channels. Type /join #channel to join. Type stuff. Enjoy. ICQ - type "micq" for a command line ICQ client rsync - rsync can be used to synchronise directories with directories on other UNIX machines, efficiently. type "man rsync" for details. cvs - if you don't know what this is, you don't want to know. You can create a reprository in your home directory and access it over ssh, or access remote/anonymous repositories on other machines from love. pine - mail client screen - again, if you don't know what this is, you don't want to know :-) pgp5 - if you want to trust my machine with your private key. heheheheheh. analog - see http://lists.warhead.org.uk/pipermail/lovers/2000-May/000001.html wwwcount - see http://docs.warhead.org.uk/wwwcount for details; I can create counters for you on demand. Just mail me if you want one. 3) software development Apache/PHP3 - see www.php.net; you can create .htaccess files, too, as documented at www.apache.org CGIs - put executable files with the extension .cgi in public_html Perl and Python are installed. 4) Shells You're all set to bash by default, but zsh and plain sh are available too. To change shells, use "chsh" (type "man chsh" for help) 5) SQL databases If you want a mysql account, give me a shout. I have libraries installed for accessing mysql databases from PHP3, and will set up PerlDBI/Python drivers at some point... PostgreSQL is also available. 6) Mailing lists I run mailman on love, and can create mailing lists with Web interfaces at lists.warhead.org.uk; I might be able to set up mailing lists on your virtual domains, too, but don't count on it becuase I've never done it before :-) 7) pkgsrc /usr/pkgsrc is a tree of software packages that can be quite easily installed. /var/db/pkg lists packages currently installed. If you want to know what something listed in /var/db/pkg is, feel free to ask. If you see something in pkgsrc you'd like installed, also feel free to ask. 8) Help!
